Can artificial intelligence help predict and manage the next blaze?
Rising temperatures and prolonged droughts have made wildfires a yearly nightmare in the Balkans. Researchers at the University of Sarajevo are developing AI models that combine satellite imagery with meteorological data to predict fire outbreaks. Early detection could give firefighters precious time to act. Pilot programs in Croatia and Montenegro are already showing promising results.
